ガンガンやり出した頃からマミーは一生懸命インターネットで情報収集を始めた。

「抑肝散」と言われる漢方でいわゆる昔からの漢方の基本で身体全般に効果がある。

先生曰く「これは苦くて大人でも飲むのが大変ですよ」と言われた。
The doctor said "this is so bitter, too bitter even for an adult to drink."
そしてマックスは「舌が赤く肝臓がすごく熱を持っている。
喉と胸も腫れていて酸素が頭にうまく流れていない」とのことだった。
His diagnosis for Max was that:
"his tongue is reddish, which means his liver has a fever,
his throat and chest are swollen and the oxygen is not properly flowing into his brain."
身体は熱などないのだが身体の内側の内臓に熱がこもっているということだそうだ。
肝臓が熱を持っていると癇癪を起こすとのこと。
He meant that Max's body temperature was normal but his internal organs were feverish.
And if a liver is feverish, it causes a person to lose temper.
今までは自閉症は治らない病気であり原因もわからず治療法もなく
手探りで治療法を求めていたが、漢方医から初めて症状の原因のひとつを示され、
初めて「そうなんだ！」と納得できた。
Until then, information we had was that;
the autism is not curable,
reasons for autism are not yet found, thus no cure for it.
We have been groping our way for cures and we were finally shown one of the reasons for the symptoms. We were persuaded at the very first time; "that is why!"
それからマミーは漢方を一生懸命 勉強した。

幸いマックスは奇声を発したり癇癪を起こすこともほとんどなく１０歳位から自傷行為
でガンガン始まってからは漢方薬だけを飲ませていたので普段は表情豊かで生き生きと
した顔をしている。

出来るだけ身体を動かすことに努めた。

When Daddy is out of down for a long time,
they hired a high school boy in the neighborhood to take Max to the gym to teach him a basketball . . .
they did their best to give him a chance to exercise as much as he can.
マミーもせっせとローラースケートやジャンピング、水泳などに連れて行き
汗をかき代謝を良くする事に努めた。
Mommy tried her best by taking him many places like roller skating, jumping, swimming - excercises to sweat for better metabolism.
これらのことはやはり大事なことだと思う。
That is very important, I think.
それでもやはりまたガンガンは始まってしまった。
But still, a headbanging has started.
考えられることは全てマックスの為にやっているのにどうしてだろう・・・・
They are doing everything they can think of for Max . . . why is that . . .
１１歳から１３歳半までは原因もわからぬままに壁はぼこぼこになり
ドアは壊されダディとマミーにとって本当に大変な３年間だった。

毎日いつ豹変するかわからないマックスが頭から離れず
神経をすり減らして生活していた。
ダディもマミーもマックスが喜ぶことをたくさんしていた。
She had been always thinking and worried about Max who might have gotten into a panic at any moment.
Both Daddy and Mommy had been doing many things that could give Max a happiness.
