66 "Scary" Adolescence

恐怖の思春期

マックスも13歳を過ぎる頃から身体が少しずつ大人に変化してくる。

Max's body changes and grows up closer to an adult little by little when he turns to 13.

ダディはマックスとメイソンに「男の子の身体の変化」
「女の子と男の子の違い」を絵を見せて説明する。

Daddy explains to Max and Mason with his drawings.

"Boys physical change" "difference between girls and boys"

心の変化もマックスが理解できるように分かりやすく説明する。
He also explains about change of mind in a way the boys can understand.
「女の子のそばにいるとちょっと変な気持ちになることもあるかもしれない・・
でもそれは普通のことなんだよ。
マックスがちょっとずつ大人になっていくということなんだよ。
でもルールがあるんだよ。変な気持ちになっても女の子にハグしたり
キスしたりしたら絶対だめだよ。ハグとかキスはファミリーだけだよ」

"You may have a strange feeling when you are next to a girl . . .

but it is quite normal.

It simply means that you are growing up.

But there is a rule that you must follow.

Even if you feel a little strange, you must not kiss her nor hug her.

Hugs and kisses are only among family."

と一生懸命説明する・・・（わかったかなぁ・・・むずかしいね・・）

 He tries his best to explain . . .(I wonder if they understood . . . it's difficult, isn't it? . . .)

ダディもマミーも一番恐れるのは、マックスがそんなに良く知らない女の子にも
家族と同じようにハグをしようとすることだ。

The worst thing Daddy and Mommy worry about is that Max goes to a girl he does not know well and tries to hug her like he hugs his family.

マックスにとっては挨拶のようなことでも突然親しくもない大人のような男の子に
ハグをされたら女の子は悲鳴あげる。

It is only a greeting for Max but if a young boy who almost looks like an adult and you do not know well comes to you and hugs, a girl may scream.

女の子がマックスの側で悲鳴をあげたらマックスは言葉で説明出来ない分
驚いてパニックになるのは目に見えている。

If a girl screams next to Max, it is so clear that he cannot make any excuses and gets  surprised which leads him to a panic.   

マックスは１４歳になった今年の夏はぐんと身長が伸びて１７８cmもある。
Max became 14 this summer and grew taller.  He is as tall as 178cm.
ダディが「マックスが二階から降りて来たら背がまた伸びていた」
とか冗談を言うくらい日増しに成長している。

Daddy joked "Max came down from the 2nd floor and he is taller now."

That's how Max is growing day by day.

こんな大きな男の子がパニックを起こしたら飛んできた警察に
すぐにとり押さえられてしまう。

If a big boy like him gets into a panic, a policeman should tackle him down.

押さえられたらマックスは話すことも出来ないし訳わからずわめき
がむしゃらに相手につかみかかろうとするだろう。

Under the policeman, Max cannot talk, does not understand what is happening, and just screams and will try to grab him frantically.

そしたら警官はどうするだろう。考えただけでも恐ろしい。
Then, what will a policement do?  Just think about it makes me trembled.
アメリカでも実際に事件が起こり警察官に射殺された少年が実は自閉症だったという話
はたまに聞く。

I heard the story that a boy was shot to death by a policeman during some trouble and later on it was found that he was autistic.

思春期はいろいろなことが起こると思うのでどういう風に
マックスに理解させるかが非常に難しくかつ重大だ。

It is a difficult and the most serious task how to make Max understand various matters during his adolescence.

メイソンは幸い普通の子供ととそんなに変わらず話せば
すぐに理解するのであまり心配していないが、
しかし小さい頃から女の子の好みはハッキ リしていた。
Mason understands well if we explain.  His understanding is almost as well as ordinary children.  So we do not need to worry about him so much.  But his liking for a girl has been very consistent since he was a little boy.
スマートで髪の長いかわいいチアガールタイプが好きで公園でも
タイプの女の子がいるとチラチラ見てすぐに隣のブランコに乗ったりする。
He likes a slender girl with long hair.  He likes girls of cheer girls looks.

When he finds a girl of his favorite type, he keeps glancing at her, goes to her and sits in a swing next to her.
夏のキャンプのスタッフの中にタイプのかわいいお姉さんがいると
すぐに名前を呼んで手をつないでいる。

If he finds a pretty girl among staff at summer camp, he calls her name and holds hands with her.

女の子の好みがハッキリしているし積極的なのでメイソンも心配だ・・
He likes certain type of girls and he is very aggressive, so we need to worry about Mason also after all . . .
ダディもマミーも子供が大きくなるにつれてますます気が休まらない・・・

Daddy and Mommy have no time to relax as their boys are growing up . . .
