プリスクールは普通の小学校の教室の一角にあり通常３歳から５歳までの子供が入る特別学級である。
Preschools are located in the building of ordinary primary schools. It is a special school usually for 3 to 5 year old.
ここには 身体に障害のある人、自閉症の子供、発達障害などの様々障害を持っている子が通っている。
Chidlren with various disorders such as physical handicap, autism, developmental disorder, go to the preschool.
クラスに大体８人〜１０人くらいの子供がおり先生の他にエイド（ヘルプの方）が二人常に子供達をケアしている。
One class accommodates 8-10 children. A teacher with 2 aids take care of children.
その他にボランティアの方もおり子供達にとっては、かなり手厚いケアを受けられる環境であると言える。
Some volunteer helpers are also at the class. This should be a condition that children can receive quite a high quality care.
プリスクールはオープンなのでいつでも様子を見に行ける。
サークルタイムの時には、マックスは、いつでもエイドの膝に乗って
先生のお話を聞いている。
Preschools are open to family members so you can go and observe a class any time. At the "circle time", Max listens to his teacher, always sitting on the aid's lap.
教室にいる子供たちは、スペシャルニーズといっても外見は全く普通の子供がほとんどで話も出来る子供がほとんどだ。
Most of the children at the class, though they need a special care, look quite ordinary and also be able to speak.
「ハ〜イ マックス！」
なんて声をかけてくる子供もいる。
Some of them come to Max, "Hi, Max."
マックスのように言葉が全く出ない子供にはあまり会った事がない。
I seldom meet children here who cannot talk at all like Max cannot.
しかし自閉症は、人によって様々な症状があり一見普通に見えても
何らかの感覚障害がある病気なので何とも言えない。
However, the autism develops various symptons and even if they look quite normal, they have some kind of sensory disorder. It is hard to tell.
特に自閉症児は健康そうで美しく整った顔立ちの子供が多いとも
言われているので尚更わかりにくい。
Especially, autistic children often look healthy and have beautiful regular features and so it make it more difficult to recognize.
我が家は新興住宅にあり近所は若夫婦がほとんどである。
Our house is located in the newly developed residential quarters.
Many of the residents are young married couples.
この前生まれたばかりと思っていたお隣の庭から「マミー〜」と母親を呼ぶ
かわいい声が聞こえる。
I hear neighbor's boy calling "mommy!" in the garden. I thought he was just born!
向かいのミッシェルさんの双子の兄弟もキャーキャー言いながら外で遊んでいる。
Twin brothers from Michell's across the street are playing outside with cheerful laugh.
マックスと同じ年齢だけどもう憎まれ口をきいている。
They are the same age as our Max but they are already talking something smart.
よその子供はすごいな・・・・
Someone else's children are overwhelming to me. . .
