14 Max is a gift from a starry country

ある本から昔　自閉症の子供の事を　「星の子供」と呼んでいたことを知った。

I learned from a book that the autistic children used to be called a "child of star".

だからキラキラ光るものが大好きなのかも知れない。
May be that is why they love glittering things.
そう言えばマックスは太陽の光線にキラキラ浮かぶ細かい塵を
飽きずに幸せそうにじっと眺めている事がある。
Max sometimes stares at fine glittering dust reflected by sunlight, happily, for a long time.
「そうか・・・マックスは星の国からやってきたんだ」
"I know now...Max has come from a starry country."
「星の国からの贈り物なんだ・・」

"He is a gift from a starring country . . ."

自閉症の人達は見え方・聞こえ方が普通の人とは全く違うらしい。
It seems that autistic persons see and hear things totally differently from ordinary people.
聞こえてくる音も見える物も全ていっぺんにどっと
押し寄せてくるように見え聞こえるらしい。
It looks the sound they hear and things they see are coming toward them all at once.
私達は自分に話し掛けてくる声だけを聞き分ける力を持っているが、自閉症の人達は、外の車の音、他の人の話し声等が一度に押し寄せ、自分に話かけている言葉を聞き取ることが大変らしい。

We are able to select voice talking to us, however, autistic persons receive noise of cars, chatting voices, etc. all together at once, so it is difficult to pick up voices talking to them.

だからこちらの世界の生活がとても疲れるのだ。
So, it is very tiring  for them to adjust and live "our world". 
そのためか時々、星の国に返してあげる時間が必要らしい。
It looks like it is necessary to return them sometimes to their starring country.
マックスも一日一時間位　庭の芝生にゴロンとなって幸せそうな顔をして
空を眺めていることがある。
Max sometimes lies down on the lawn, happily looking up sky even for one hour. 
自分の部屋からみんなを追い出して一人になりたがる時間がある。
He sometimes pushes us out from his room and wants to be alone in the room.
そういうと時はきっとあちらの世界に戻ってホッとしているのかも知れない。
Probably, that is the time he has returned to his country and relaxing.

でもあまり長くあちらの世界に行ってしまうのも困るので、
「ハ〜イ　マックス！」
と呼びかけてこちらの世界に引き戻す。
But we do not want him to stay there too long and bring him back to "our world" calling "Hi, Max".
戻ってきた彼はニコニコとして皆のいるリビングで遊びだす。
He returns with happy smile on his face and starts to play in a living room where we all are.
自閉症の中には多動で５分と落ち着いて座っていられない子供や
癇癪をすぐ起こす子供も多いが、幸いマックスは
キーキーと癇癪を起こす事はなくセラピストさんからは
「Happy Boy!」と呼ばれている。

Some autistic children are over-active and cannot sit still even for 5 mins.
Many lose temper easily. Luckily, Max does not lose temper and therapists call him a "happy boy!".
