22 Max Finished 4 Bagles!! - 2007
食事改善プロジェクトは突然終わった。
Our diet improvement project has ended suddenly.
二週間過ぎても新しい物には、一切、手を出さない。
After two weeks, he still did not try new foods at all.
もう諦めてフレンチフライをあげようかと思い始めたある日、
マミーが買っておいたベーグルが4個無くなっていた。
It was about the time that we thought we should give up and got back to McDonald's French fries, mommy noticed, one day, that 4 bagles she had bought were gone.
結構大きなベーグルなのに４個もどうしたんだろう・・・
It is a very big bagle. What happened? Four of them . . .
大人でも１個でお腹いっぱいになる大きさだ。
It is a size that one could make an adult full.
「マックス、食べた？」とマミー
Mommy asked "Max, did you eat bagles?"
マックスはこっくりとうなずく。
Max nodded.
ひゃーびっくりしたぁ～
Surprise! Surprise!
それにしても4個とはすごいね！
Four of them! Wow!
まぁ10日間も何もお腹に入ってなかったから食べられたんだね。
He did not eat anything for 10 days and was hungry enough for four bagles.
主食がフレンチスライからベーグルに替わった。
Bagles became his staple food switched from French fries.
かなりマックスの空腹を満たしてあげる事出来る！！
This means we can give Max quite filling foods ! !
そこで食事改善プロジェクトは終わった。
This is how our diet improvement project has ended.
大変であったがベーグルを食べてくれる様になったので
挑戦した甲斐があったと思っている。
It was a very difficult project but since Max started to eat bagles, we thought it was worth an effort.
グルテン摂取の心配はあるがマックスは特にハイテンションなどの
症状は出てこないのでベーグルを食べさせる事にした。
Though we need to worry about gluten, since Max does not show symptons such as high tension, we have decided to give Max bagles.
それからは、一日に２個から３個ベーグルを食べている。
最近は身体もしっかりとして来て一回り大きくなった気がする。
He has 2 to 3 bagles a day since then.
I thought his body became steadier and bigger.
マックスがベーグルを食べる様になって気が付いた事がある。
We noticed one thing since Max started to eat bagles.
マックスはマミーのお膝が大好きですぐに乗ってる。
Max loves mommy's lap. He always sits on it.
そして抱かれながらマミーの顔に自分の顎を強く押し付けてくる。
In her arms, he presses his chin tightly to mommy's face.
「マックス 痛い！歯が折れちゃうからやめて！」
"Max, you are hurting me! Stop it. You'll break my teeth!!"
いつもマミーは言っていた。
Mommy used to say this to Max.
それがピタッと止まった。
It stopped suddenly.
食事らしい食事をした事がなく、固い物も食べず、しかも話もしない・・・
He has not had a regular meal, does not chew hard foods, and does not talk.
マックスは今まで 顎を使う事がほとんどなかっのだ。
Max has seldom used his chin so far.
だからきっと顎が生理的にムズムズして痛いほど
マミーに押し付けずにいられなかったんだ！
That made him feel uncomfortable around his chin and could not help pressing it against mommy, I imagine!
そうか！マックスにはちゃんと理由があったんだ！
I've got it! Max has his own reason for it!
「マックス ごめんね、わかってあげられずに怒っちゃって。」
"Max, we are sorry we could not imagine and got angry at you.
きっとマックスのやる事には全て理由があるに違いない。
I believe there must be reasons for everything Max does.
自閉症の人たちには、五感障害と共に身体障害もある様なので、
全ての行動には、これらの障害が深く関わっているに違いない。
Autistic persons seem to have physical disorder together with five senses disorder, so all actions should be something to do with those disorders.
それからは、以前にも増して、マックスの行動を注意深く見守り
理解する様に努めている。
After we noticed it, we are watching over Max's behavior even more carefully and trying to understand him.
