マックスは、生まれた時から偏食で離乳食はほとんど嫌がって食べなかった。
Max did not eat ordinary baby food.
３歳までは、キッシュ、ポップコーン、クラッカーと牛乳を飲んでいたが、
Until he becomes 3 years old, he has been taking quiche, popcorn, crackers, and milk. 
小麦粉と乳製品の摂取を断つGFCFダイエットという食事療法をはじめることにした。
When he became 3, we decided to start "GFCF diet".  This is a diet which excludes wheat flour and dairy products.

小麦粉に含まれるグルテンと乳製品に含まれるカゼインを断つダイエット法である。
A diet to exclude gluten in wheat flour and kasein in dairy products.
ABAなど教育的アプローチを数カ月続けているうちに自閉症の子供を持つ親やインター
ネットなどから様々な情報がはいってくるようになる。
As you continue for several months the educational approach such as ABA, you begin to receive various information through parents of autistic children and through web site. 
マックスの便は、柔らかく独特の臭いがするが、
それは腸の中のイースト菌が関係しているらしい。
Max' stool is soft and has special smell.  It seems it is related to a yeast fungus in the bowels. 
ほとんどの自閉症の子供は、極端に腸の中の善玉バクテリアが少ないため
イースト菌が繁殖して腸に穴をあけ、そこから小麦粉に含まれる
グルテンや乳製品に含まれるカゼインが漏れて毒素を作りだし
血液中に入り込み脳に送られ蓄積し自閉症の様々な症状の原因になる
ということらしい。

Most of the autistic children have extemely limited good bacteria in the bowers, that allows yeast fungus to grow in the body and makes holes in bowels.  Gluten in wheat flour and kasein in dairy products leak through the holes, which create some toxin.  It goes into bloods and reaches to brain.  This causes various symptons of autism.  That is what we learned.

り多動が改善した」などという事例がインターネットなどにあふれている。

You find many many cases in the web site such as "tremendous speech improvement in several days" and "improvement of hyperactivity"

これらを読んだらやはり試さずにはいられない。

If you read it, it is hard not to try it.  

もともと口にできるものが極端に少ないマックスには、

かわいそうだがダイエットをはじめることにした。

It is very hard for Max who already eats only very limited items, but we decided to start this diet.

口にできるのはグルテンの入っていないクラッカーと自家製ケーキ、
ライスミルク、それとぶどう、日本の梨、冷たい緑茶、ほうじ茶だけだ。
もともとジュース類はいっさい飲まない。

What he is allowed to eat are: gluten free crackers, home-made cakes, rice milk, grapes, Japanese pears, cold green tea and Japanese toasted tea.  He does not drink any kind of juice from the beginning.

ライスミルクにプロテインとビタミンの粉を混ぜて、
必要最小限の栄養素をどうにか摂取させている。

Minimum nutrition comes from rice milk mixed with powder protein and vitamins.

しかもマックスはまだコップが使えず生まれた時から
同じ形の哺乳瓶を使用している。

Max still could not use a cup and had been using a baby bottle since he was born.

３歳になるとプレスクールにいくのに哺乳瓶では、
恥ずかしい（本人は全く気にしていないけど）と、
哺乳瓶をやめさせようといろいろと試したがどうしても
哺乳瓶が手放せない。

When he turned to 3, we tried to stop a baby bottle.

He was ready to go a pre-school and we thought it was not nice to drink from a baby bottle (of course Max himself did not care at all), but he did not give it up.

３歳の夏、まづプラスチックのカップに哺乳瓶のような吸い口のついている
シッピーカップに替えることに決めた。
In the summer when he was 3, we first tried to change a baby bottle to a sippy cup.

哺乳瓶を隠し、そのカップで飲まそうとしたが、
どうしても口をつけず、真夏だというのに結局２日間何も飲まずに過ごした。
We have hidden a baby bottle and tried to make him drink from a sippy cup.

He refused and did not drink anything at all for 2 days in the middle of summer.

仕方なしに哺乳瓶に戻そうとあきらめかけたら幸いにも
マックスがあきらめてくれてシッピーカップで飲み始めた。
When we were almost giving up and trying to return to a baby bottle,

Max gave us and started to drink from a sippy cup. 
自閉症の子供は、こだわりが強く新しいものを拒否する傾向がある。
Autistic children tend to have cares to stick to things and refuse a change.
特にマックスの場合は、哺乳瓶の他に靴のこだわりが強く
新しいデザインの靴は嫌がり履かない。

いつもマミーは、マックスのために同じ靴を何足も買っておく。

Max cares about shoes also and does not like to wear shoes of different design.

His mommy always keeps many pairs of the same shoes in stock.


ＣＦＧＦダイエットと並行してバイオメディカル療法もはじめる。

We have started bio-medical therapy together with CFGF diet at the same time.  

血液検査、尿検査、毛髪ミネラル検査などのあらゆる検査の結果、
マックスも多くの自閉症児と同じように水銀、鉛など重金属が
身体にかなり蓄積しているという結果がでた。
With all kinds of tests such as blood test, urine test, hair mineral test,

we knew that a heavy metal like mercury & lead is piled up in Max' body as is the case of any autistic children.

自閉症児はどうも重金属を解毒する機能が著しく弱く
重金属が体内に蓄積してしまい、これが脳の中枢神経を冒す
ということらしい・・・むずかしいね．．．
Autistic children's function to detoxify heavy metal is extremetly weak, thus it stays in their bodies, which will harm the central nerves in the breain..... oh, difficult.
水銀を体内から排出するためにキレーションと呼ばれる治療も始めた。
Chelation therapy was also started.  This is the therapy to discharge mercury from the body.
同時にサプリメント（西洋漢方薬）の服用をはじめる。

Tried supplements (western herb medicine) also at the same time. 

GFCFダイエットで乳製品の摂取をしていないので
カルシューム不足となりやすいのでカルシューム、
不足すると聴覚過敏や多動の原因になるマグネシューム、
自閉症独特の手をひらひらさせたりするスティミングには
魚のオイルからできているオメガ３、

そしてビタミンB12、B6、Cなどたくさんの種類の
サプリメントを毎日服用させている。

A lot of supplements everyday as below:

Calcium: Because of the GFCF diet, he does not take in enough calcium.

Magnesium:  A lack of magnesium causes hypersensitivity and/or hyper-activity

Omega-3 out of fish oil: stimming (sp?), a typical action for autism to wave hands

and Vitamin B12, B6, C. 

嫌がるマックスを
無理やり抑えつけて口に押し込んで飲ませる。
親にとってもマックスにとってもつらい作業のひとつであるが、
「とにかく治すために飲ませなければ・・・」
少しでも良くなることを願いながら心を鬼にして飲ませ続ける。

We had to force Max to drink those supplements, pushing them into his mouse.

Though it is such a hard job for both parents and Max, wishing an improvement in any sorts, they kept to make Max drink those.  "We have to do this to cure. . ."

（7歳と5歳になった今では、決しておいしいと言えない何種類もの薬を嫌がらずに自分
から口をあけて飲んでくれる）

(Max and Mason are 7 and 5 now, they drink many supplements without parents forcing them.)
