2012年 超スマートなメイソン
メイソンは７歳過ぎるとビックリすることがたびたび起こった。
Mason often surprised us when he turned to 7.
世界中の国々や世界の国旗に興味を持ち初めいつも
iPadで眺めているのを見かけるようになった。
He got interested in world countries and its national flags.
We noticed him looking at them with iPad.
ある時、ダディが世界の国旗を質問すると全て正確に答えて
マミーもダディもビックリ！
One day, Daddy asked questions on national flags and Mason answered all correct.
Mommy and Daddy were astonished !
誰も知らないような聞いたこともない（失礼！私達が知らないだけかも…）国々も
全て答える。
He answers flags of unknown countries (excuse me! It might be only us.)
１年以上経ってから、たまたま機会があり国旗と国を結ぶゲームをしたが
メイソンは186カ国中184カ国は正解！2カ国だけ出来なかった。
More than one year later, they played a game to connect country names to national flags.
His answer was correct for 184 countries out of 186 countries!
He missed just 2 countries!
時間が経っているから忘れたんでしょうと思っていたら ビックリ！
後からじっくり拡大鏡で見たらとその２カ国の国旗はわずかに間違っていたのだ！
We thought he forgot because over one year has passed.
But we have checked later with a magnifying glass and knew there was a subtle mistake in flags of those 2 countries!
世界の国も同じだ。
The same thing for the names of countries.
地球儀をほしがったので買ってあげるといつの間にか覚えてしまい
地球儀を指し「どこの国？」と聞くとダディもマミーも知らない国の名前を答える。
首都も知っているのにはさらにビックリ！
He asked to buy him a globe and we bought one for him. He remembered country names before we knew it.
Pointing at the globe, we ask "Which country is this?"
He answers the names of the country that Mommy and Daddy do not know.
He also knows the capital of each country. A big surprise again!
アメリカの州の名前、州の旗もみな覚えている。
何年経っても忘れないのが凄すぎ！
He knows all states of America and states flag.
And once he remembers them, he never forgets. It's overwhelming!
私などはいくら覚えても英単語などすぐ忘れてしまう…
本当にうらやましい・・・（私と比較するのが間違いですね？！）
I learn English words and forget them so easily.
I envy him . . . (It may be wrong that I compare me with him?")
世界の主要な建物、橋、タワーにも興味を持ちGoogle earthで飛んで行き眺めている。
He is interested in world's famous buildings, bridges, towers.
He flies to them in GoogleEarth and looks at them.
インターネットは本当にすばらしい・・・
メイソンのような小さい子供でもGoogle earthで世界中旅が出来る・・
Interet is wonderful . . .
A little boy, like Mason, can travel all over the world with GoogleEarth.
目下のメイソンの夢はパリのエッフェル塔やロシア赤の広場のバジリウス大聖堂や
ロンドンのビッグベンを実際に観に行く事だ。
Mason's dream now is to visit real Eiffle Tower in Paris, Vasilius Cathedral in Red Square in Russia, and Big Ben in London.
今はGoogle earthで旅をしてはレゴなどで作って眺めている。
Now, he just enjoys travelling in Google Earth and makes those places with LEGO bricks and enjoy looking at them.
インターネットは本当にありがたい。
マックスやメイソンのように外にひとりで出かけられない子供でも
ひとりで自由にいつでも世界中を飛び回り行きたい場所に行き
観たいものを見に行く事ができる！
We are really grateful for The Internet.
It makes it possible for a child like Max and Mason, who cannot go out alone, goes around all over the world by himself freely to see what he likes to see, wherever, whenever he likes!
メイソンは本を読んでは著者を調べ内容も気になるとすぐにネットで調べ家にいる時も
外に出かける時もいつでもiPadを手放せない。
Mason searches for author's name or something he wants to know as he reads books. He always carries iPad at home and outside.
ダディやマミーが教えなくとも いろいろな知識を知らない間に蓄えているようだ。
He is accumulating knowledge in many fields even if Mommy and Daddy do not teach.
宇宙にも興味を持ちメイソンの部屋には天井から宇宙の惑星が
たくさん ぶらさがっている。
He is interested in the universe also. Many planets in the universe are hanging from the ceiling of his room.
