アメリカのキャンプはすばらしい！！
マックスとメイソンは2ヶ月半の夏休みを「アウトドア キャンプ」で満喫した。
Max and Mason have fully enjoyed "outdoor camping" during the 2.5-month summer vacation.
キャンプといっても日本で言うキャンプではなく親が車で毎日９時までに
集合場所に送り３時に迎えに行く。
Camping here is different from camp in Japan which you stay overnight.
Parents take children to the meeting spot by 9:00 a.m. every morning and go there again at 3:00p.m. to pick them up.
そこには年齢は７歳から１７歳位まで男女１５〜１６人の
何らかの障害のある子供達が参加している。
Participants are boys and girls around 7-17 years old who have some kind of disabilities. It's a group of 15-16 children.
スタッフは６〜７人若い高校生や大学生が付いてくれる。
6 to 7 high school and college students take care of children.
家から車で１５分位のところにある湖に面した大きな州立公園が
夏のキャンプの集合場所になる。
Meeting point of summer camp is about 15-minute drive from our home, located in the large state park facing a lake.
９時にはサークルタイムがはじまる。
The circle time begins at 9:00a.m.
その日のスケジュールと注意事項などの説明後に
バス２台でその日の目的地に向かう。
After the explanation session of the schedule for the day and some advices,
children are off to the destination of the day with 2 busses.
1ヶ月のスケジュールがくるが、そのスケジュールがすばらしく充実している。
湖での水泳、カヤック、セーリング、ハイキング、ロッククライミング、
自転車乗り方教室など内容がとても充実している。
We receive the schedule for the whole month.
It is filled with enjoyable activities.
Swimming at lake, kayaking, sailing, hiking, rock-climbing,
how to ride a bike, etc.
とてもダディとマミーが連れて行けない所に毎日連れて行ってくれる。
Everyday, they take Max and Mason to places where Daddy and Mommy cannot easily take them.
もちろん美術館や科学館、動物園にも行く。
Of course, they take them to the art museum, the science museum, the zoo.
夏休みの最後の週には、
リッチな方が子供たちの為に立派なクルーザーを提供してくださり
毎年子供達は楽しんでいる。
In the last week of the summer vacation, they can enjoy cruising every year.
Some wealthy person offers a cruiser for the camp.
マックスはキャンプ中に何回かパニックを起こしガンガンやってしまい、
ガンガンやると翌日は謹慎させられ参加出来ない。
Max had a head-banging panic several times at the camp. When it happens, the next day, he is not allowed to join the camp and has to stay at home.
何回か金曜日にガンガンやってしまいマックスは金曜日は休息日にした。
そんなマックスをいつも見ているメイソンは自分が何かしなくてはと思っているのか
弱い子のお世話を一生懸命頑張っているらしく スタッフの方から
「助かってます」とお礼を言われる。
Head banging happened several times on Friday, so we decided to make Friday a holiday for Max.
Mason, looking at Max, may feel that he has to do something helpful, and he takes care of children weaker than him. Staff say to us "he is very helpful for us".
アメリカには障害者の為の夏冬休みのキャンプが充実していてすばらしい。
There are excellent camps meant for handicapped children in America during summer and winter vacations.
もちろん普通の子供はもっといろいろなキャンプがあると思うが障害者の為のキャンプ
も充実していてマミーもダディもとても助かっている。
I am sure there are more variety of camps for ordinary children, but camps for the handicapped are so well planned and Mommy and Daddy have been very much saved by the camp.
