64 A Family Visit to Japan - 2013
2013年 一家で日本に行く
マックスが１１歳の時に日本のマミーの父親（つまり私の元夫）が亡くなり
マックスとメイソンそしてダディとマミーの一家四人揃って初めて日本に来た。
When Max was 11, Mommy's father in Japan (i.e. my ex husband) died and Max and Mason with Daddy and Mommy, all four of the family visited Japan first time.
突然の変化や新しい環境に順応するのが難しいマックスとメイソンを連れて
特にマックスのガンガンがいつ始まるかわからない状況を考えると
厳しいものがあったがやはり葬儀にはマックス、メイソンも参列させたいという
マミーの強い思いが実現した。
It is always difficult for Max and Mason to adapt to a sudden change and to new surroundings.
And we do not know when Max's head banging starts. Even with all these hurdles in mind, Mommy's strong wish to attend her father's funeral with Max and Mason made it possible.
もちろんダディの絵と写真で家を出てから飛行機に乗るまで、
そして飛行機の中での注意事項など旅行の行程の説明は欠かせない。
Of course, explanation on the whole process from leaving the house to board on the plane, how it is like to stay in the plane, are indespensable, using Daddy's drawings and photos.
そうすることにより子供達は自分達にこれから何が起きるのか
事前に理解して心の準備ができ新しい環境に安心して対応できるのだ。
The boys can easily adapt to new surroundings by knowing beforehand what is going to happen.
シアトルの飛行場から飛行機の中そして日本の飛行場と
難関をなんとか無事通過した。
They have passed through without much problems at the airport in Seattle, in the plane, and the airport in Tokyo.
ガンガンが始まらないか心配したがなんとかグランパの葬儀で
マックス、メイソンもお線香をあげることができた。
We worried about Max's head banging, but we could manage to have Max and Mason finish the ritual of Japanese funeral for their grandpa.
マックスは日本のグランパには１歳の夏に日本で会うことができたが
残念ながらメイソンは会う機会がなかった。
というかマックスが２歳半の時に自閉症と診断されてからは
生活のすべてを自閉症との戦いに費やしてきたので
日本に行くなんてことはか全く考えられなかった。
Max could meet grandpa in Japan in the summer he was one year old, but Mason, unfortunately, could not have a change to meet him.
Rather, since Max was diagnosed as autism at 2 and a half, his parents have spent practically all of their time for a battle against autism, and it has been out of question to go to Japan.
日本滞在中、マックスは２回もダディと東京ディズニーランドに行き
メイソンは東京タワーに２日も出かけ合計３回も東京タワーに昇った。
二人共日本滞在を思いっきり楽しんで帰国した。
During their stay in Japan, Max went to Tokyo Disneyland twice with Daddy, and Mason went to the Tokyo Tower for 2 days, climbed up the tower 3 times.
The boys have fully enjoyed Japan and returned.
